Interesting statistic on tax free work popped up today in the Sunday Times.
For us Brits, we are told that the ‘average’ Briton will have had to work almost 7 months of the year for the Government before the rest of the year’s earnings are their own.

It is called Cost of Government Day.

This year it is July 23rd. So that means that (if you are a Brit) that you are working for the Government from 1st. Jan until 23rd July. That is 203 days.

In 2000 we only had to work until June 26 until COG Day. So in another 7 years can we expect the day to be in the middle of August before we get our tax free work?

COG day in the UK comes later in the year than in America, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Spain – but earlier than France.

So what can we do to change our personal COG Day? Or even, can we change our COG Day?
